To me the most important thing we have learned in this class is about point of view. It is something I never though about being a major component of literature like setting, tone, ect. I also never though about it in movies and in books and how it plays a role in the story. The point of view according to the book "refers to who is telling us the story and how it is told." This is important because without that aspect we could be lost on the main point and characters of the story we are reading. 

 "A Doll's House" was set in 1879, In the 1800's women were not treated the best. They really had no rights and were considered only to be home makers. They did not work unless it was on the farm with the spouse, and were expected to do what they were told with no complaints. compared to modern day women that is the complete opposite. Women now have the same freedoms and liberties as a man does. They are no longer "property" and should be treated as such. Women can now vote, own weapons, work jobs, and so much more. They are not defined by their husbands or fathers like they were in the late 1800's

 This is a hard on to decided between, but my favorite movie I would say would have to be The Hurt Locker. I love it because it shows the truth behind what happens in the military and what war and conflict can do to the person in it. Its setting is second year of the war in Iraq. This is important to the movie because it is what happens in the battles and how its affects people both on and off the battle field. Without this setting for the movie not much would make sense to the average American as to why these service members are over run by depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Getting to see what happened to them and where it happened gives you a better outlook on the situation and what caused them to have the mental issues later.

 In the poem "next to of course god america i" by E.E.Cummings we can get easily confused with the construction of his writing. To this I see the overall symbolism in the poem being about the use of young Americans being sent to fight for something they should not be flighting for. In the line "Why talk of beauty what could be more beautiful than these heroic happy dead who rushed like lions to the roaring slaughter they did not stop to think they died instead then shall the voice of liberty be mute?" I break this down as the young being groomed for war and to think that all of the worlds issues have to be policed by them, so dying for this cause is something that makes them fell heroic or happy. I see a similar symbolism in the song M.I.A. by Avenged Sevenfold, "Walk the city lonely memories that haunt are passing by a murderer walks your street tonight forgive me for my crimes, don't forget that I was so young fought so scared in the name of God and count...
